prefer a small dog, ideally one that doesn't shed a lot, one that is house trained and doesn't have habits like biting/chewing. small breeds are best, ideally maltese, yorkies, poodle mixes, etc.

depending on the dogs temprement and habits, it can have access to some/most of the house - but definitely the kitchen, balcony, and family room. we live near alot of parks and green spaces where we can take him for walks and outings.
