Meet Rex!
Found at just 5 weeks old in a homeless encampment in Perris, CA, this little guy has already seen more than most dogs ever will — and he has handled every single moment with grace, grit, and a wagging tail.
Rex was born with rear leg deformities, but don't let that fool you. He gets around on his wheels like a pro, and when the wheels come off, he scoots around just as happily. He navigates thresholds, uneven terrain, and even steps like it's no big deal — because for Rex, it isn't. He's also learned to get in and out of his crate on his own with some simple adaptations, which tells you everything you need to know about this dog's determination.
At around 16 lbs and growing, Rex is as social as he is spirited. He loves people — including kids — and gets along great with other dogs. He's a puppy through and through, so expect some of that classic puppy energy, but his heart is genuinely kind and his love for the people around him is obvious from the moment you meet him.
Rex is almost fully house trained (we're at about 90%!), sleeps through the night in his crate from 10pm to 6am with no accidents, and takes to training with impressive focus and enthusiasm. With the right guidance started early, his trainers believe Rex has real therapy dog potential — and we couldn't agree more.
He is a special dog in every sense of the word. Not because of what he can't do, but because of everything he can — and everything he will — with the right person by his side.
Rex is looking for an experienced dog owner who can give him structure, patience, and a whole lot of love. If that sounds like you, apply below!
